that's what we're hoping for and then we can do a big cook out and just have time to hang out and relax after training!

-----------

I've never had a dog that enjoyed getting their nails cut. Layla will let me do it, but she acts like I'm killing her. Gadda will let me do it, as long as she's got frozen pumpkin cookies to keep her occupied. Neither of them put up a fight, but they dont like it. So, I saw today that Moops needed her nails cut - we go into the kitchen and I start cutting them.

The hardest part about cutting Magitha's nails? - her tail wagging a hundred miles an hour in my face.

She's actually doing much better, thanks! I'm not letting her run around outside because of the ice, but we'll play ball a little in the house and she's back to jumping and flipping like she used to. I'm putting her in a trial prep class in March and will hopefully be able to do some OB trials with her this summer/fall. As much as I'd like to get her back into agility, I just dont know if it's the best thing for her. I'd be terrified all the time she'd get hurt again.

Very cool, are you planning on trialing her in AKC obedience? Does the obedience center hold any trials where they allow the new mixed breed listing?

I think I may do some stuff with Earl this spring. Obedience is so dam boring but I need to find something to do with him outside of tracking and dock diving.

I think we'll do AKC - I'll have to have her registered as a mix, but I think they're planning to add the mix breed at our trials and there's a trial in syracuse in may or june that's not too far away.

I just needed something for Layla to do - I'm afraid to put her back in agility and she certainly isnt doing frisbee anymore, and honestly...rally is just embarrassing, but we'll probably do it if we're there for Ob anyway.

there's a class starting March 2, with an AKC Judge (Gary McCarthy....or something similar) for dogs that are almost trial ready....so, they know pretty much all the exercises, but it focuses on ring protocol, how each exercise is judged and working more on the off-leash heeling portion of Novice A. Layla and I will be there...hopefully working on her stand  I've heard the guy is really good - you should check it out

All DOTCORNY trials will have mixed breeds after April. The AKC changed the format as well - mix breed dogs will compete directly with the pure breds.
